COLS 160: Learning Strategies For Higher Education
Taught by TRIO advisor Janet Zupan, we offer this 2-credit course every Fall and Spring semester. It is tuition-free for enrolled TRIO students.
COLS 160 encourages and guides students toward a more self-reliant, self-motivating, and active approach to learning. You will have an opportunity to observe your current learning strengths, to consider and try new strategies and to devote class time to making progress with your classes.
Topics include Time Management, Mindset, Memory Principles, Textbook Reading, Stress Management and Test Taking Skills. Get your best start in college by learning and using tools that allow for better organization, comprehension and success!

Please note: you will need to visit with a TRIO advisor to receive a registration override and enroll in the course. An advisor can verify your eligibility and provide an electronic override for the specific section you’re interested in taking.
To receive more information on the registration override, or on the course itself, students can reach a TRIO advisor by doing any of the following:

These instructions apply to all new TRIO students who are interested in COLS 160, regardless of their class standing.
TRIO advisors are also available during the summer and can be reached by following any of the above steps. They can help with registering for the course, even if you are not on campus or in Missoula yet.
