Additionally, we’re introducing features to help you easily access materials from our trainings, past attendance records and print certificates of completion.
How to Get Set Up the First Time:
1. Check Your Status:
- If you have attended more than two courses, we have automatically added you to our database. To check if you are already set up, click the password reset button and try to send a reset request to your email.
2. Register:
- If you are new to the MPHTC or if your email is not found, click the "Register" button.
3. Verify Your Email:
- After registering, a link will be sent to your email to verify your login.
4. Need Help?
- If you do not receive the automated email, please contact Kathrene Conway at Kathrene.Conway@umontana.edu, and she will manually send you the verification link.
5. Choose Course:
- Once logged in, register for your specific course.
6. Get Calendar File:
- Once you register, the calendar file will be emailed. If you don't receive it, you can login to the portal and download it from under the course title on left hand side of the dashboard.

Future Forecast: The Public Health Department's Outlook Over the Next Four Years
This course provides an overview of the Foundational Public Health Services (FPHS) and Montana’s 21st Century (21C) transformation effort, exploring how these initiatives aim to modernize and strengthen public health systems. Participants will learn why these transformations are critical for improving system alignment, addressing emerging health challenges, and building sustainable, resilient public health systems for the future.
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
- Understand the FPHS Framework
- Explore the 21C Transformation Effort
- Recognize key challenges and opportunities: Identify current challenges facing Montana's public health system and the innovative solutions embedded within the FPHS and 21C transformation efforts

Public Health Grant Writing 101: The nuts and bolts of getting organized, getting clarity, and getting funded
Does the thought of grant writing intimidate you? Or just make you want to run for the hills? In
this workshop, veteran grant writer Katie Loveland will share tools to take the pain out of grant
writing and equip you to develop compelling grant proposals to fund your public health program.
Participants will learn how to identify funding opportunities, craft persuasive narratives, structure
budgets, and align proposals with funder priorities.
Our objectives include:
- Enhance Understanding: Participants will increase their capacity to identify funding opportunities and understand funder expectations.
- Improve Writing Skills: Participants will demonstrate skills to craft clear, persuasive, and data-driven proposals.
- Strengthen Proposal Structure: Participants will increase their ability to structure key sections of a grant proposal, such as need statements, work plans, budgets, and evaluation plans.
- Boost Confidence: Attendees will be empowered with practical tools and best practices to successfully secure funding for public health initiatives.

The Role of Public Health in Addressing Climate Change
This training will explore the latest scientific evidence of how climate change is impacting Montana, as well as explore the role that public health can play in addressing climate change at the community level.
