Yes! The Schwanke Honors Institute is supported by a generous endowment bestowed to the Davidson Honors College by Kermit and Kathleen Schwanke and persists through continued support by the Schwanke family. Students can apply for a scholarship through a separate application. Scholarships are typically worth between 10-50% of program costs and can be applied to program costs.

Air Travel:
is about 10 minutes from campus and is served by the following airlines: Delta, Northwest, Horizon (Alaska), United, Allegiant, and Frontier. The Schwanke Honors Institute will provide shuttle services to and from the airport to campus between 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. on arrival day and again on departure day.
Driving:
Driving directions to camps can be access and printed on this pdf. Program participants are not allowed to drive personal vehicles during the program, but they can park their vehicles on campus with a long-term parking permit. Weather in Missoula and surrounding areas in June averages between 47-74 degrees and can (and likely will) bring everything from bright sunny days to wind and rain. It’s important to be prepared for a wide range of temperatures and weather events. The program will be visiting mountainous terrain in the surrounding areas that can be quite a bit colder, windier and variable than the town of Missoula. Our recommendation is that you plan to layer your clothing and outerwear. Please know that we have tried to include all the big items that you may need during your time in the program, but do not forget to think about what makes you most comfortable and what you need for travel, study, and fun.
Required clothing/shoes/equipment:
- Rain Jacket
- Comfortable shoes for walking and hiking (waterproof or water resistant is a bonus!)
- Warm outer layer—example: fleece or synthetic down jacket
- Warm hat
- Warm gloves
- 1-2 pairs of synthetic socks (good for walking and hiking)
- Sleeping bag (basic bedding provided in dorms and cabins)
- Reusable water bottle (Nalgene or another brand)
Recommended, not required:
- 5-6 t-shirts or casual shirts
- 4-5 pairs shorts/casual skirts/jeans
- 1-2 sweatshirts/sweaters
- 1 nicer outfit for the closing showcase and dinner (polo shirt/button down/blouse and slacks/khakis/skirt or dress)
- 1-2 pairs of athletic wear
- Swimsuit
- Synthetic long underwear layer
- Socks & underwear
- Pajamas
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Flip flops / shower sandals
- Toiletries

While on campus, you will live in a double-occupancy dorm room in Knowles Hall
The group will also spend two nights at the 老虎机攻略’s field station at Lubrecht Forest located one hour outside of Montana. -
While on campus, students will primarily eat breakfast, lunch and dinner in 老虎机攻略’s new dining hall, “The Lodge Dining Center", but there will also be several occasions for additional meals provided by 老虎机攻略 Catering and other Missoula establishments. We will collect detailed dietary information from students before the program begins to ensure that meals accommodate all allergies and other dietary restrictions.

**This schedule is approximate and will change according to different class time and afternoon activities. Afternoon activities will include a variety of field trips and excursions, as well as on campus exploration.

Students can check in at Knowles Hall (on the 老虎机攻略 Campus) between 12:00- 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11th. Schwanke staff will be in touch with each family about travel plans ahead of time and accommodations can be made for students arriving to campus outside of the designated check in time. Schwanke staff will also be present to check students into their dorm rooms and help them get settled in. For students arriving by plane, there will be an airport shuttle service to and from the Missoula airport and campus; timing for the shuttle will be determined by student travel plans and communicated well in advance.
Schwanke participants and staff will convene at the Davidson Honors College at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11th for a Welcome Dinner and Orientation program. Parents and guardians are encouraged, but not required to attend. Please stay tuned for details about programming and dinner on June 11th!

Students should plan to depart on Friday, June 20th, any time before 12:00 p.m. and will need to check out with a Schwanke staff member. Please note that students being picked up by car will be released only to a parent or guardian listed on the registration form; a note is required if an unlisted individual will be picking up the student. Similar to arrival for students arriving by plane, there will be an airport shuttle service to and from the Missoula airport and campus; timing for the shuttle will be determined by student travel plans and communicated well in advance.
