Located in the basement of the math building, we offer a space for students to study, work on homework, or take tests while having the opportunity to ask questions and learn from our experienced tutors.

WANT TO BE A TUTOR?
A tutor assists and coaches current and prospective students to become more successful and independent learners in mathematics. Tutors provide and help to integrate effective learning and study strategies for their assigned students, while at the same time helping to clarify and/or reinforce course content, assignments and material. This position only runs when classes are in session. Pay starts at $12/hour.
Qualifications
- Passing grades in math course(s) through Calculus 2, or current enrollment in Calculus 2 and recommendation of instructor.
- Demonstrated proficiency (through transcripts and competency exam) in traditional math sequence (elementary algebra, college algebra, trigonometry, differential and integral calculus).
- Positive instructor referral/recommendation(s).
- Good academic and student conduct standing.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Currently enrolled student at the 老虎机攻略.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of at least one term of study at 老虎机攻略.
- At least one year of previous tutoring experience.
- Successful coursework in statistics, linear algebra and/or multivariable calculus.
- Successful completion of HONR 398 (Internship: Academic Tutoring) or equivalent tutoring/teaching certification, including CRLA, National Tutoring Association, college teaching experience or state teaching licensure.
HOW TO APPLY
The hiring process starts 4 to 6 weeks before the end of the current semester to allow proper time for processing. A schedule is created at the beginning of the next semester. Applications received mid-semester will be reviewed on a rolling basis and if hired, applicants can begin attending meetings and events and cover open shifts. We cannot guarantee mid-semester hires any shifts until the next semester.

- A resume or one-page summary of experience and qualifications. Include any college-level experience and/or training.
- At least three references (one current math faculty).
- An unofficial transcript displaying grades received in mathematics-related courses.
- We will reach out by email if your application meets our requirements and we wish to proceed with an interview.
