The mission of the nonprofit administration minor is to build leadership capacity and professional skills for students to lead, manage, and support nonprofit and philanthropic organizations. The Nonprofit Administration Minor is a 21-credit, stand-alone, multi-disciplinary program. Students from any major can minor in nonprofit administration. Nationally, 10% of workers are employed in the nonprofit sector; in Montana it is over 11% (MT Nonprofit Sector Report).
The minor's objectives include:
- Expose students to career paths within the nonprofit sector
- Create a foundation of knowledge about the sector to inform skill development
- Teach students unique aspects of working and managing nonprofit organizations
- Emphasize specific professional competencies for excellence in the field
- Recognize the value and contribution of the nonprofit sector in society and the economy
- Create a pathway to graduate-level professional preparation in our Department's online professional certificate in nonprofit administration and the MPA nonprofit administration track
