Interdisciplinary Graduate Program
The Graduate School invites you to explore degrees that allow you to integrate knowledge, research, and training from more than one department or discipline. The Interdisciplinary Graduate Program provides opportunities for students to tailor their academic degrees to their personal and professional needs through innovation that crosses conventional disciplinary boundaries. The M.I.S. (M.A. and M.S.) and D.I.S. degrees offer formal opportunities collaboration among multiple departments, especially important in areas of new research or areas where we do not currently have existing degrees. Students in this program pursue innovative combinations of coursework to build the expertise necessary to conduct unique interdisciplinary research projects.
We offer an M.A. and an M.S., as well as a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies, one of only a few dozen universities in the U.S. that does so.
We encourage you to study our existing Master's and Ph.D. programs, but if you want to do research in an area we do not have a degree, explore the links on this page to find degree guidelines, application materials, and information about our current students!
We look forward to hearing from you!
