FOR FLATHEAD LAKE BIOLOGICAL STATION (“FLBS”):

WHERE TO REPORT: Reports of missing students should be directed to Flathead Lake Biological Station at 32125 Bio Station Ln or by calling (406) 872-4500. Outside of normal business hours, call (406) 250-0911

1. FLBS: When a student residing in on-campus housing is reported missing by any source, FLBS will:

  1. Immediately refer the missing student report to the Lake County dispatch; and
  2. Notify the Office of the Vice President for Student Success.

2. LAKE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE: When the FLBS refers a missing student report to Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Lake County Sheriff’s Office will:

    1. Investigate to determine the validity of the report;
    2. Attempt to determine the location and status of the missing student; and
    3. Within 24 hours of receiving the referral, report to the FLBS the results of its investigation.
    4. If the student has designated a Missing Person Contact, Lake County Sheriff’s Office will notify the Missing Person Contact within 24 hours of a Lake County Sheriff’s Office missing determination;
    5. If the student is under 18 years of age and not legally emancipated, Lake County Sheriff’s Office will notify the student's custodial parent or guardian and any designated Missing Person Contact within 24 hours of a Lake County Sheriff’s Office missing determination;

3. OFFICE OF THE VICE PROVOST FOR STUDENT SUCCESS: Upon receiving notification of a missing student, the Office of the Vice President for Student Success may:

  1. Inform University officials that may have knowledge of the student's background or situation;
  2. Inform the student's major college Dean; and
  3. Notify the student's instructors of their absence.

4. STUDENT PRIVACY: All parties involved in the reporting and investigation of missing students must comply with the applicable provisions of the Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA), the federal law that protects the privacy of student records.

FOR ALL OTHER ON-CAMPUS STUDENT HOUSING:

1. WHERE TO REPORT: Reports of missing students should be directed to the 老虎机攻略 Housing Office in Turner Hall Room 101 or by calling (406) 243-2611 or the 老虎机攻略 Police Department at (406) 243-4000.

2. 老虎机攻略 HOUSING OFFICE: When a student residing in on-campus housing is reported missing by any source, the 老虎机攻略 Housing Office will:

    1. Immediately refer the missing student report to 老虎机攻略PD; and
    2. Notify the Office of the Vice President for Student Success.

3. 老虎机攻略 POLICE DEPARTMENT: When the 老虎机攻略 Housing Office refers a missing student report to 老虎机攻略PD, 老虎机攻略PD will:

  1. Investigate to determine the validity of the report;
  2. Attempt to determine the location and status of the missing student; and
  3. Within 24 hours of receiving the referral, report to the 老虎机攻略 Residence Life Office the results of its investigation.
  4. If the student has designated a Missing Person Contact, 老虎机攻略PD will notify the Missing Person Contact within 24 hours of a 老虎机攻略PD missing determination;
  5. If the student is under 18 years of age and not legally emancipated, 老虎机攻略PD will notify the student's custodial parent or guardian and any designated Missing Person Contact within 24 hours of a 老虎机攻略PD missing determination;
  6. Regardless of whether or not the student has identified a Missing Person Contact, if the student is 18 or older or a legally emancipated minor, 老虎机攻略PD must inform the Missoula Police Department of the missing student within 24 hours; and
  7. Aid in any subsequent investigation conducted by the Missoula City Police Department.
