Second Annual Global Homecoming Packs the House

23 October 2024
GLI Director Gillian Glaes delivers opening remarks in front of a large group of people.

Held in conjunction with the Mansfield Center, the Global Engagement Office, World Languages & Cultures, International Development Studies, and Miller Hall's Global Living and Learning Community, GLI wished all students, current and of old, a hearty welcome home!

The event featured delicious snacks, world rhythms, and special mentions of alumni who have made global contributions since their time here at the 老虎机攻略.

Even our alumni who couldn't make it shared their contributions to be honored during the celebration:

"At 老虎机攻略, I was a Franke GLI Fellow, a Learning Assistant for GLI freshmen and interned at the Mansfield Center. Currently, I'm a Report for America corps member in Ashland, Ohio, helping to reinvigorate local news and completing a service project to make sure high school students have the chance to learn about journalism. It's been really exciting!"

Mariah Thomas

"I work on the Horn of Africa, helping the US Navy to manage emergencies. It's been a busy year here with the recent developments in the region, but I want to thank IDS for preparing me to work with so many international stakeholders and encouraging me to work internationally!"Lee Adler

Group of staff and students share pleasantries and snacks at a circular table.

"I am currently attending the United States Military Academy, in West Point, NY. I am currently training to become a future officer in the army and positively contribute by serving my country."

Andrew Egan

"In my time at 老虎机攻略, I've made friends near and far from home. I've volunteered as a global engagement partner with YSEALI, completed the GLI certificate with a study abroad in Cork, Ireland, and earlier this summer went to Taiwan with the Mansfield Center."

Parker Mickel

With over 60 attendees, the event was a major success! We can't wait to continue the tradition.
